Prepare Dried Moss

  1. In a large container, add the desired amount of sea moss, that you would like to use, and cover it with spring or distilled water.  Makes sure that the water covers the moss by 2-3 times because the moss will expand when rehydrated.
  2. Allow the moss to rehydrate for 6-12 hours.
  3. If soaking purple sea moss, wash a lime and cut in half.  Squeeze the lime juice into the bowl of soaking sea moss, then leave the lime in the bowl.  This helps cut the strong ocean taste that’s usually characteristic of purple sea moss.
  4. After soak, pour off the water, and thoroughly rinse your moss until all of the sand/salt has been removed.
  5. Place your sea moss into your blender
  6. Add distilled or spring water until it fills halfway up to the height of your sea moss in the blender.  
  7. Blend until smooth.  Add water as needed.  Store gel in a clean glass container in a refrigerator

Recommended Dosage 

When made into gel, 1-2 tablespoons per day.  

Nutritional Value

2 tablespoon of sea moss has as much as 5 calories containing -.1 g fiber, 0.06 g sugars, and 0.02 g of fat.

Storage 

  1. Dried – Store over one year if you store it in a dark cool place.  Do not store in refrigerator.  Since the sea salt on the sea moss is a natural preservative, it helps to preserve your sea moss.
  2. Gel – When made into gel form, keep refrigerated.  This can last 3-4 weeks.
